A Shooting after Nightfall
Like me, you probably regularly hear from people who want to know why the so-called liberal media has so little good to report about the progress of the Iraq war.
Some days, you just have to think: maybe it's because there is in fact not much good to report.
Standard disclaimers apply: This has nothing to do with supporting the troops, or failing to support them. As many advocates of the war (and apologists for Abu Ghraib) never cease telling us, Stuff Happens in war. I agree. Which is all the more reason why wars embarked on for the flimsiest of pretexts deserve ever louder condemnation; "This is war, we regret the sorrow of children but what'd you expect?" rings as hollow issuing from the mouths of US politicians as it does from the mouths of Al Quaeda sympathizers attempting to justify the 9/11 attacks.
