"Rare Moment of Candor": Heh
Media Matters reports on the appearance of Rev. Jerry Falwell as a guest host on last night's Crossfire. What is commonly referred to as the money quote came when Rev. Falwell, commenting on the "progress" in Iraq, said:
Update (1:51 pm): The transcript of the entire show is, well, let me put it this way: You know how in Crossfire transcripts, when the guests and hosts are talking really fast and stepping on one another's lines, the, uh, the transcriptor loses the thread of what's being talked about -- and just inserts the notation "(CROSSTALK)"? Last night's show must have been chaotic, to say the least. The transcript is (CROSSTALK)ed to the point where a reader can get a little (CROSSEYED).
What you can make sense of, though, is entertaining. It turns out they actually didn't talk much about Iraq. The guests were Patricia Ireland, past president of NOW, and "Republic strategist Genevieve Wood," and most of the talk, cross and otherwise, focused on the best way(s) to teach students in the throes of hormonal perplexity about sex. At one point, Carville -- speaking of how sex is taught in programs run by fundamentalist Christians -- says:
CNN doesn't always get [the war] right, but it goes pretty well if you watch it on FOX [News Channel].WLIR congratulates the esteemeed theologian for recognizing what the left wing has been saying all along.

One of the things that they teach is, is that you can get pregnant through masturbation. I don't know how to say this, but it's something I have some familiarity with... And I have never gotten pregnant.Gotta admire the guy for going public with that. (Seriously though, I did almost lose a mouthful of soda when I read it.)
