Offline, + Katrina
I've been off-line for about four-five days now... not by choice! Our Internet (DSL) connection slowed, on Thursday night, to a crawl. (Getting/Sending a brief email message takes up to 45 minutes! With this post, I'm trying out the new Blogger-for-Word add-in; maybe that will go quicker, without the overhead of a browser connection.) Because we live in the Florida Panhandle, we thought it was some kind of belated spillover from the disaster in New Orleans, Mississippi, and Alabama. Not so, as I learned after a two-hour phone session with a Sprint tech on Saturday. There's just some kind of physical problem with the line at our house.
A service tech will be here tomorrow morning. Afterwards, I should be able to post again for real.
Until then, regarding Katrina, please refer to the comments on a posting on Joe Trippi's blog for an idea I had last week -- an idea which, if it's to be fulfilled, will require lots of help from many different quarters. It may or may not be too late to help with the victims of Katrina, but I think it's got a lot of potential over the middle to long term.
