Holiday Gifts for Art-Minded Lefties

A few recent diaries on dKos (by Hunter, mrsdbrown1, and zenbowl) addressed the seasonally all-important question, "What do I buy (a) for a lefty, (b) to make the point that I'm a lefty, and/or (c) to piss off a rightie? Suggestions were pretty good, I thought, although some were a little too much of the squishy-liberal ™ variety for my taste.

Then I came across a promo on BartCop for the work of Bruce Yurgil. If you've frequented BartCop with any regularity, you will have seen samples of Yurgil's unique pulp-art-as-polemic vision. They're like B-movie theater signs or the covers of trashy dime novels, all with a snarky twist and (without exception, I think) the visage of at least one member of the current "administration" subtly grafted in. For instance, there's this:

Yurgil: 'Foreign Service'

Yurgil is finally offering a gallery of his works for sale. Items are available in three sizes:He offers some advice on selecting the appropriate size, advice which you'll probably do well to heed:
These graphics are originally done in a very small size as they were intended for computer display only. This means that any enlargement of the image will have less resolution per inch as the size increases. Therefore, the smaller the size, the better the image quality. Also, some graphics are better than others in regards to pixels per inch, so quality will vary. In the end though, all graphics should look fine in the first two sizes, with only the poster size burdened with the words "caveat emptor".
The only form of payment he accepts is PayPal.

Small sizes might be good for papering a funky guest bathroom. As for the poster, you might wonder what you'd do with a 3 feet-by-5 feet grainy work of political art. One possible answer: Think of using it a la Freeway Blogger.

Yurgil has been toiling, unfairly, in relative obscurity for a while now. Good to see he's figured out a way to earn something back from us.

Comments:
Hello, I just bounced over from Bartcop's attribution to your blog, regarding Bruce Yergil artwork. I don't know if you've already seen it, but there is a tremendously cool site with similar artwork, and lots of it! It's at http://homepage.mac.com/leperous/PhotoAlbum1.html

It's called "Propaganda Remix Project." Scroll down a bit when you reach the page, there are a lot of thumbnails there. :)
