Now, See: That's What I'm Talking About
Simon St. Laurent is a successful technical writer and editor. His blog is also a fine example of someone applying the twin principles of CS&D (common sense and decency) and "think globally, act locally" to new political and technological realities. It's all about the town where he lives, Dryden, in upstate New York; one of his pet projects is to post photographs, apparently, of every building in the small town -- and if that's not a way to provide the true nature of community, nothing is.

From his first post, a little over a year ago:
The whole process [of watching Democratic candidates lose the 2003 municipal elections, by a 3-2 majority vote] has me thinking a lot harder about where I live and why, and a blog seems like the right place to do it. Thinking in public is kind of strange, and sometimes even embarrassing, but it also seems worth doing. There isn't a whole lot out there on Dryden, and it's taken us a few years to figure out where we are. Maybe this will help some folks find their way around, and heck, maybe it'll be interesting generally. His whole site makes me a little embarrassed to be "tackling" politics in such an abstract way as WLIR does.
